Isreal Delport
Cellar Hand
After leaving school at the age of 15, Israel Delport began working as a general farm worker to support his family. His positive attitude and willingness to learn quickly set him apart, and he soon progressed to tractor driver before being selected as the cellar hand at Stofberg Family Vineyards.
Because Stofberg Family Vineyards is a boutique winery with limited off-season work, Israel invested his spare time in studying wine. After only two seasons in the cellar, he completed Skop 1–3 and was chosen, out of many applicants to represent South Africa in Burgundy, France, on an international exchange programme.
The knowledge and experience he gained in Burgundy inspired him to craft this Chardonnay, guided by winemaker Mariëtte Stofberg-Coetzee.
“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.”
